Well, she’s completed! And looking as lovely as can be expected for a large, purple monster with a rather interesting concept of fashion.

This is probably one of the silliest pieces I’ve ever worked on. I’ll be the first to admit it. It’s actually been in the works for over a year (wow! has it really been that long since I first came up with the idea?). Our ADO team (Art Dolls Only, an Etsy team) recently decided to do a monthly challenge called Bathing Beauties and this partially finished doll had to come down off the shelf and be finished because she fits in perfectly with that theme. As you can see, though, she’s not quite done yet.
I decided to try out a new gallery plugin on my blog here but I’m not sure how the various setups on the gallery look in a post so you get to enjoy some picspam today (I’m sure everyone is faint with excitement at the thought).
I signed up to participate in ADO’s Traveling Doll Project. Art Dolls Only is a team that I help start on Etsy–we wanted a place for those of us who make dolls for art rather than toys or children’s dolls. The team has grown by leaps and bounds…so much, in fact, that we finally had to limit our membership because it was becoming more than we could really cope with. We wanted a team that’s close-knit where most of us know each other and we feel comfortable working together. And, even more important, we wanted a team that we could promote and advertise for easily. People with a likeminded goal of promoting our dolls, our Etsy shops, and our team.
I’ve decided to join in on this awesome event. I’ll be giving away two items–one art doll figure and one blank journal/sketchbook.

So the doll was due in November of last year. Yeah, I’m late. Our Dolls and Miniatures team (DAM) decided to do a Spring Round Robin doll, which wasn’t a true round robin because we just partnered everyone up. We had two miniaturists and six doll artists participate and I got paired with a miniaturist.
