Still working on the next 5-hole pamphlet

Posted by Lady Artisan under: KSProject .

I have an idea for doing the regular 5-hole pamphlet using pc-infused fabric. I’ve been playing around with layouts and fabrics for the cover. The design is, of course, more complicated than I should be doing but I’m enjoying working on it and that’s what counts. The idea is for the cover itself to be various leaf shapes in different fabrics with handmade floral paper (flower and leaf inclusions in the paper) as the signature. I’m using a green fabric for the spine and a portion of the front and back cover, with the various leaves overlapping it and each other.

I got the idea from a picture in the book Creative Bookcovers by Mary Maguire. She has some fabulous inspirational pictures at the front of the book and one of them was made by Evangelia Biza using calf leather to imitate leaves and tree bark. I knew I wanted to do a version of that bookcover so when I started thinking through ideas for making clay fabric covers, I thought of using a design based on the leaves idea.

Still in a pretty early stage of making it but hopefully I’ll have it done sometime this week and can post pics for it.
